The Last Day of March 2013--as school year 2012-2013 fades into our memory
The instructional year has ended and only the weeks of assessments remain. Through my educational role I see that Texas Teachers have now done all they can to prepare students for the STAAR. Teachers can now turn to their students and hope for the best. Next week the boxes will be opened and the test booklet seals broken and then the students are on their own. The collective thoughts of the State will be with them. The quote, "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle" seems appropriate, especially at this time.
As for me, I have a different challenge. I have now completed two-thirds of the interviews for my dissertation. The process has fulfilled its purpose. I have learned not only from the research and interviews, but from the travel from idea to implementation. This week I conducted interviews and found them to be an emotionally draining experience. I slept twelve hours after the last interview. I never thought I would encounter my own emotions in conducting the research and I was not prepared for the intensity of the emotions.
